Japanese Embassy to Host Specified Skill Exam in Vietnam
Foreign nationals who want to work in Japan with the new status must pass a skill exam and a Japanese language proficiency test. During his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Tokyo on December 16, Prime Minister Kishida Fumio confirmed the importance of Vietnam’s workforce for Japan’s socio-economic development. This includes high-quality laborers and skilled apprentices. Viet Nam News reported that both sides were pleased with the upcoming skill exam for apprentices in Vietnam. The Public Relations Office of the Japanese Government stated that the “Specified Skilled Worker” is a new status of residence introduced in April 2019 for foreign nationals seeking employment in Japan.
